I keep hearing that the mercy I show others is the very mercy I will receive from Allah. Is that really how it works, and can showing mercy change my own destiny?میں بار بار سنتا ہوں کہ جو رحم میں دوسروں پر کرتا ہوں وہی رحم مجھے اللہ سے ملے گا۔ کیا واقعی ایسا ہی ہے، اور کیا رحم کرنا میری اپنی تقدیر بدل سکتا ہے؟
Yes, that is really how it works. The kindness you show others is not lost into the air; it comes back to your own hands. And this is one of the most hopeful things in our religion: the mercy you long for from Allah is tied to the mercy you hand out in ordinary days.
The Prophet stated the pattern plainly.
“The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on earth, and the One above the heavens will be merciful to you.”

Notice how simple it is. Mercy goes out from you to the creation, and mercy comes down on you from the heavens. You are not knocking at a locked door; you are opening a channel.
And the reach of one small act is wider than we assume. The Prophet told us of a woman the world had written off entirely, a woman who sold herself, and one drink of water changed her end.
“A prostitute was forgiven because she drew water for a dog dying of thirst.”

And in a separate narration he showed the other turning of the same door.
“A woman entered the Fire because of a cat which she had tied up, neither feeding it nor releasing it to eat from the vermin of the earth.”

So the gate opened, not for some grand and famous deed, but for one moment of pity toward a suffering creature, and it opened for someone the world had already dismissed. Never decide that your small kindness is too small to count, and never decide that a life has gone too far. With the Most Merciful, no act of compassion is trivial, and any ordinary moment can turn out to be the one that changes a destiny.
The mercy you carry is not even your own invention. It is a single ray from an ocean.
“Allah has one hundred parts of mercy, one of which He sent down among creation, by which they show mercy to one another.”

A mother’s love for her child, the kindness of friends, the pity a stranger feels for a stranger: all of it together is that one part, and the other ninety-nine remain with Allah. So when you are gentle, you are passing that one part on through your own hands, and your heart is drawn a little closer to a quality that belongs to Allah Himself. There is also something we notice in ourselves, that the one who shows mercy is lifted by it, his own load a little lighter for what passed through his hands. Where the rest of that mercy returns to us, and in what form, we can leave with Allah, who overlooks no act of goodness. So yes, mercy can soften your destiny, because it draws down on you the mercy of the One who holds every destiny in His hand.
One small step: Do one small, unseen act of mercy today, a cup of water for someone tired, a kind word to someone struggling, and leave its return quietly with the Most Merciful.
ہاں، بات واقعی ایسی ہی ہے۔ جو نرمی ہم دوسروں کے ساتھ کرتے ہیں، وہ ضائع نہیں ہوتی، پلٹ کر ہمارے ہی حصے میں آتی ہے۔ اور دین میں جو بات سب سے زیادہ حوصلہ دیتی ہے، وہ یہی ہے کہ اللہ کی جس رحمت کے ہم طلب گار ہیں، اُس کا ایک سرا ہمارے اپنے ہاتھ میں رکھ دیا گیا ہے۔
آقا ﷺ نے یہ اصول بالکل صاف لفظوں میں بیان فرما دیا:
”رحم کرنے والوں پر رحمٰن رحم فرماتا ہے۔ تم زمین والوں پر رحم کرو، آسمان والا تم پر رحم کرے گا۔“

دیکھیے، بات کتنی سیدھی ہے۔ رحم آپ سے مخلوق کی طرف جاتا ہے اور اوپر سے رحمت آپ پر اُترتی ہے۔ یہ کسی بند دروازے پر دستک نہیں، ایک راستہ کھولنا ہے۔
اور ایک چھوٹے سے عمل کی پہنچ کہاں تک ہے، یہ بھی سن لیجیے۔ آپ ﷺ نے ایک ایسی عورت کا ذکر فرمایا جسے دنیا نے کسی گنتی میں نہ رکھا تھا، اور پانی کے ایک گھونٹ نے اُس کا انجام بدل دیا:
”ایک بدکار عورت کی اِسی وجہ سے بخشش کر دی گئی کہ اُس نے ایک پیاس سے مرتے ہوئے کتے کو پانی پلا دیا۔“

اور ایک دوسری روایت میں آپ ﷺ نے اِسی دروازے کا دوسرا رخ سامنے رکھ دیا:
”ایک عورت ایک بلی کے سبب آگ میں داخل ہوئی، جسے اُس نے باندھے رکھا، نہ خود اُسے کھلایا اور نہ چھوڑا کہ وہ زمین کے کیڑے مکوڑے ہی کھا لیتی۔“

تو معاملہ کسی بڑے کارنامے کا نہیں تھا۔ ایک بے زبان جانور پر ترس کے ایک لمحے نے پلڑا بدل دیا، اور وہ بھی اُس ہستی کا جسے لوگ سب سے کم تر سمجھتے تھے۔ اِس لیے اپنی چھوٹی نیکی کو کبھی کم نہ جانیے، اور کسی زندگی کو ختم شدہ نہ سمجھیے۔ اللہ کے ہاں رحم کا کوئی عمل معمولی نہیں، اور کوئی بھی عام سا لمحہ فیصلے کا رخ موڑ سکتا ہے۔
پھر یہ رحم جو ہمارے دلوں میں ہے، ہمارا اپنا بھی نہیں۔ یہ ایک سمندر سے آئی ہوئی ایک کرن ہے:
”اللہ کے پاس رحمت کے سو حصے ہیں، اُن میں سے صرف ایک حصہ اُس نے مخلوق میں اُتارا، جس کے سبب وہ آپس میں ایک دوسرے پر رحم کرتے ہیں۔“

یعنی ماں کی مامتا، دوستوں کی مہربانی، اجنبیوں کا اجنبیوں پر ترس، یہ سب مل کر بھی اُسی ایک حصے میں سے ہے، اور باقی ننانوے حصے اللہ نے اپنے پاس رکھے ہیں۔ سو جب آپ کسی پر نرمی کرتے ہیں تو اُسی ایک حصے کو اپنے ہاتھوں سے آگے بڑھا رہے ہوتے ہیں، اور دل اللہ کی ایک صفت کے قریب ہوتا چلا جاتا ہے۔ ایک بات ہم اپنے اندر بھی محسوس کرتے ہیں کہ رحم کرنے والا خود ہلکا ہو جاتا ہے، جو رحمت اُس کے ہاتھ سے گزرتی ہے، کچھ اثر اُس پر بھی چھوڑ جاتی ہے۔ باقی رحمت کہاں اور کس صورت میں لوٹے گی، یہ اللہ کے سپرد رہنے دیجیے، وہ کسی نیکی کو نظر انداز نہیں کرتا۔ ہاں، رحم تقدیر کو نرم کرتا ہے، کیونکہ یہ اُس ذات کی رحمت کو اپنی طرف کھینچ لاتا ہے جس کے ہاتھ میں سب تقدیریں ہیں۔
ایک چھوٹا قدم: آج کسی ایک کمزور یا بے آواز کے ساتھ ایک چھوٹا سا رحم کیجیے، پرندوں کے لیے تھوڑا پانی رکھ دیجیے، یا کسی تھکے ہوئے کا بوجھ ذرا ہلکا کر دیجیے، اور اِس کا بدلہ خاموشی سے اللہ کے سپرد کر دیجیے۔
