People say my home should feel like a place of worship, but between screens and bills it just feels like a hotel we sleep in. How do I bring barakah back into it?لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ میرا گھر عبادت گاہ جیسا محسوس ہونا چاہیے، لیکن اسکرینوں اور بلوں کے درمیان یہ بس ایک ہوٹل لگتا ہے جہاں ہم سوتے ہیں۔ میں اس میں دوبارہ برکت کیسے لاؤں؟
The fact that your home feels like a hotel is itself telling you something. A man who wanted nothing more than a place to sleep would never notice. Something in you was made for nearness to Allah, and it is quietly saying that it was built for more than screens and bills.
Barakah does not ask you to renovate the house or empty the bank account. It asks that the name of Allah be heard inside your walls again. The Prophet (peace be upon him) drew the difference plainly:
“Do not make your houses into graves. Indeed, the house in which Surah Al-Baqarah is recited, Shaytan flees from it.”

A grave is a place where no remembrance stirs: silent, still, only sleeping. A home comes alive the moment the words of Allah are heard in it. You do not need to recite the whole of Al-Baqarah in one sitting. A few verses, read aloud in the morning or played softly, already begin to change the air of a room.
There is a verse of the Qur’an often brought up here, and it is worth being exact about what it describes. The scholars of tafsir understand these honoured houses to be the masajid, the places of worship:
“In houses which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein.”

So the verse is speaking of the masajid, and I will not stretch it into something else. But notice what raises them in honour: not their marble, not their size, not their view, but that the name of Allah is remembered within their walls. And that light was never sealed inside one building. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the house in which Allah is remembered and the house in which He is not are like the living and the dead (Sahih Muslim 779). So your ordinary flat, unpaid bills and glowing screens and all, can take something of that same light, simply by letting His name be heard in it. The screens are not the enemy; they carry recitation as easily as noise. What matters is what you let fill the silence.
Do not read the tiredness of your home as a verdict on it. A house is like a garden that has gone a little dry. Water it once, today, and again tomorrow, and the green returns on its own.
One small step: This evening, before sleep, play or softly recite a few verses of Surah Al-Baqarah aloud in your main living space, so that the name of Allah is the last sound your home hears tonight.
گھر کا ہوٹل جیسا لگنا خود ایک بات کہہ رہا ہے۔ جسے صرف سونے کی جگہ درکار ہو، اُسے یہ کمی محسوس ہی نہیں ہوتی۔ آپ کے اندر جو چیز اللہ کی قربت کے لیے بنائی گئی ہے، وہی چپکے چپکے کہہ رہی ہے کہ اسکرینوں اور بلوں سے آگے بھی کچھ ہے۔
برکت کے لیے نہ گھر کی تعمیرِ نو درکار ہے، نہ جیب خالی کرنا۔ بات صرف اتنی ہے کہ اللہ کا نام پھر اِن دیواروں کے اندر سنائی دینے لگے۔ نبی کریم ﷺ نے یہ فرق بالکل صاف کر دیا ہے۔
”اپنے گھروں کو قبرستان نہ بناؤ۔ بے شک جس گھر میں سورۃ البقرہ پڑھی جاتی ہے، شیطان اُس گھر سے بھاگ جاتا ہے۔“

قبر وہ جگہ ہے جہاں ذکر کی کوئی جنبش نہیں، خاموشی ہے، سناٹا ہے۔ اور جس گھر میں اللہ کا کلام سنائی دے، وہ اُسی لمحے جی اٹھتا ہے۔ پوری سورۃ البقرہ ایک ہی نشست میں پڑھنا ضروری نہیں۔ صبح چند آیات بلند آواز سے پڑھ لیجیے، یا ہلکی آواز میں تلاوت چلا دیجیے، کمرے کی فضا بدلنے لگتی ہے۔
یہاں قرآن کی ایک آیت عام طور پر پیش کی جاتی ہے، مگر پہلے یہ واضح رہے کہ وہ کن گھروں کا ذکر کر رہی ہے۔ مفسرین اِن بلند کیے جانے والے گھروں سے مساجد مراد لیتے ہیں، یعنی عبادت کے گھر۔
”(یہ نور) اُن گھروں میں ہے جن کے متعلق اللہ نے حکم دیا کہ اُنہیں بلند کیا جائے اور اُن میں اُس کا نام لیا جائے۔“

تو آیت میں شان مساجد کی بیان ہوئی ہے، اور میں اِسے کھینچ کر کچھ اور نہیں بناؤں گا۔ لیکن دیکھیے، اُنہیں بلندی کس چیز سے ملی؟ سنگِ مرمر سے نہیں، کشادگی سے نہیں، بلکہ اِس سے کہ اُن میں اللہ کا نام لیا جاتا ہے۔ اور یہ روشنی کسی ایک عمارت میں بند نہیں کی گئی۔ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ جس گھر میں اللہ کا ذکر ہو اور جس میں نہ ہو، دونوں کی مثال زندہ اور مُردہ کی ہے (صحیح مسلم ۷۷۹)۔ سو آپ کا یہ سادہ سا گھر بھی، اپنے بلوں اور روشن اسکرینوں کے باوجود، اُسی روشنی میں سے کچھ حصہ پا سکتا ہے، بس اتنا ہو کہ اُس میں اللہ کا نام سنائی دے۔ اسکرین دشمن نہیں، اُس سے شور بھی نکل سکتا ہے اور تلاوت بھی۔ سوال صرف یہ ہے کہ خاموشی کو کس چیز سے بھرنا ہے۔
گھر کی اِس تھکن کو اپنے خلاف فیصلہ نہ سمجھیے۔ باغ کی زمین سوکھ جائے تو ہریالی مرجھا جاتی ہے۔ تھوڑا پانی دیجیے، آج اور کل، سبزہ خود لوٹ آتا ہے۔
ایک چھوٹا قدم: آج سونے سے پہلے، اسکرینیں ایک طرف رکھ کر، گھر والوں کے ساتھ سورۃ البقرہ کی پہلی پانچ آیات یا آیۃ الکرسی بلند آواز سے پڑھ لیجیے، تاکہ رات کو آپ کے گھر میں آخری آواز اللہ کے نام کی ہو۔
